Offset Integrated Stone Basins: Tacita vs Tavira

Updated on

Tacita and Tavira are both 1200 mm-long integrated Perlato marble basins, but they put the wash area on opposite sides of the adjoining stone surface. Tacita has a left-hand basin and a surface extending to the right; Tavira places the basin to the right of its adjoining surface. That difference can matter more to a bathroom layout than the shared stone name.

Compare them from a consistent front-facing view, then check the selected product drawing. A photograph viewed from an angle can make orientation difficult to read. Neither a reversed photograph nor a similar overall footprint establishes that two basins are interchangeable.

Two reference configurations, not one design in two photographs

The current product information identifies the following reference sizes. Dimensions below are overall length × width × height, not the internal washing area or usable water depth.

  • Tacita: 1200 × 450 × 180 mm (47.24 × 17.72 × 7.09 in). The rectangular basin is on the left, with the broad adjoining stone surface to the right.
  • Tavira: 1200 × 450 × 160 mm (47.24 × 17.72 × 6.30 in). The rectangular basin sits to the right of the adjoining stone surface.

Both list natural Perlato marble. The identical reference length and width do not erase the 20 mm difference in overall height, nor establish identical basin interiors, drain positions or support details. Final dimensions are confirmed before production.

Put the useful surface on the side where it will be used

Start with what happens beside the basin. A soap dispenser, folded hand towel or small tray needs a deliberate location. The adjoining surface is useful when it falls on the appropriate side of the wash area for that room, rather than simply looking balanced in a catalogue image.

For an illustrative layout, imagine a basin next to a side wall with the bathroom's open approach on the other side. A surface extending toward the wall and one extending toward the approach create different arrangements for reaching daily items. This is not a universal left-or-right recommendation: the door, mirror, faucet and intended users determine which arrangement deserves closer review.

Mark the proposed basin and the adjoining surface on the room plan. Place the actual items you intend to keep there at their approximate footprint. Do not treat the overall 1200 mm length as 1200 mm of clear storage space; the wash area, rim and other details occupy part of it. Where usable surface dimensions matter, request them for the selected configuration rather than estimating them from the image.

Coordinate the faucet with the basin, not the centre of the top

An offset basin changes the relationship between the overall top and the washing area. Centring a mirror or faucet on the whole stone piece will not necessarily centre it on the basin.

Compare a front elevation with the plan view. Identify which line represents the basin centre, which represents the overall top, and which the designer intends to use for the mirror or lighting composition. Keep these decisions explicit instead of assuming every element shares one centre line.

The faucet outlet and drain arrangement need product-specific coordination. Neither reference size above supplies a drain opening, spout reach or drilling instruction. Use the stone sink and faucet pairing guide for the information to bring to that review; the approved product drawing and relevant project professionals must settle the actual interfaces.

The same footprint does not mean the same supporting arrangement

The 180 mm and 160 mm overall heights should remain visible in the comparison. They are outside dimensions, not measurements of usable bowl depth. Do not use either number to infer water capacity, drainage performance or the height at which the piece should be installed.

The supporting furniture or structure must be coordinated with the selected basin. The product information for both references identifies the supplied item as the complete stone basin and its integral countertop or rear ledge. Faucets, cabinetry, a separate lower shelf and concealed wall fixings are not included. A styled bathroom scene is not an expanded supply list.

If you are comparing a basin with a complete vanity proposal, use the existing vanity and integrated basin scope guide rather than assuming that similar-looking arrangements include the same components. This article does not provide a wall-support design or installation approval.

Compare the selected stone as well as the layout

The shared Perlato marble name is a material starting point, not a promise that two pieces will have identical tone or veining. Review the available material photographs for the piece being considered and keep the selected finish tied to the order.

A reference image helps explain the intended composition. It does not establish the exact markings of a future piece, and it should not be used as a substitute for dimensioned information. If a proposed change affects orientation, size, stone or finish, ask for that change to be reviewed rather than assuming the existing reference image can simply be mirrored or resized.

Choose a reference or describe the change

For a current direct-purchase reference that suits the project, review the selected product's dimensions, supplied scope, current price and preparation and delivery terms before ordering. Made to order does not mean the same thing as ready to ship. Preparation and transit remain separate stages.

If the reference layout does not work, request a configuration review and quote with the product name, desired basin side, overall dimensions, selected faucet information and any proposed material or finish change. Include quantity and delivery location. Changes are reviewed for feasibility and quoted separately; a similar footprint does not establish an unchanged price or schedule.

Browse Integrated Basins for other layouts. For Tacita versus Tavira, the useful decision is specific: which side should contain the wash area, what needs to sit beside it, and can the rest of the room be coordinated with that exact configuration?
